Nebraska Football Season Video 2010

I edited and produced this video in December of 2010 for the Nebraska Football team banquet. I used mostly HuskerVision footage, with some shots from ESPN sprinkled in. It was a challenge to try and sum up 14 games in a seven-minute video, but I managed to showcase the main highlights of the 2010 Nebraska Football season. The video was well-received at the banquet and was later shown (with non-copyright music) on the Nebraska Football Show.
Nebraska Football Show Coaches Feature (with Carl Pelini and Pierre Allen) 2010

One of the most popular features on the Nebraska Football Show is the One on One segment, where a player interviews his position coach. I was a bit nervous to mic up defensive coordinator Carl Pelini, but as you can see, we managed to have some fun with it. I shot, edited and produced this video in November of 2010. This is one of the show features that I am most proud of -- it took some guts to ask Coach Pelini to put the microphone on, and the interview shoot after practice one night turned out nicely in my opinion.
Nebraska Football Show N House feature (Haunted House) 2009

Another Nebraska Football Show feature, this one perhaps got the most laughs of any piece I've done. I was assisted in shooting by Josh Anstey, another HuskerVision student, and I edited the feature in October of 2009. Three of Nebraska's offensive linemen took a trip through a haunted house in Lincoln, and the results speak (or scream) for themselves. The players are always fun to work with, but this feature was one I'll never forget. This feature won HuskerVision show feature of the year for the 2009-2010 season.
Nebraska Football Senior Video 2009

For the final home game of the 2009 Nebraska football season, I was in charge of producing a video to honor the seniors on Memorial Stadium's big screens. Josh Anstey took care of most of the graphics, while I shot the interviews and edited the video. It was special to have thousands of fans watch my work on the screens and enjoy the tribute to NU's seniors. I wanted to make it a reflective piece, since that particular group of players had been through a lot of ups and downs throughout their careers.
Nebraska Softball Big 12 Tournament Psychup 2010

As the HuskerVision producer for the Nebraska softball team, I was in charge of a variety of different things, including the production of motivational videos for the players to watch before they played in big games. This video, created in May of 2010, was completely shot, edited and produced by me within about 3 days. The quick turnaround of a softball schedule provided many challenges, so putting this video together on a tight timeline was a good experience. The players enjoyed the video, and it also won HuskerVision music video of the year for the 2009-2010 season.

One of the most helpful experiences in my college career was working at the Daily Nebraskan, NU's student newspaper, as a freshman. I gained so much knowledge and learned a ton about sports journalism while I served as a sports reporter. In this article, I took a look at Nebraska football's 2008 recruiting class after it was announced Bo Pelini would serve as the next head coach. I talked to two prominent scouting agencies and got their take on the shape of the class.
Daily Nebraskan Athlete Profile 2008

As a rookie reporter, I often did stories on some of the sports that didn't always receive widespread recognition -- softball, bowling and men's gymnastics. This was a blessing for me, as I was able to form solid relationships with those programs and work on building trust with players and coaches as a journalist. In this article, I wrote about Nebraska All-American gymnast T.J. Schmidt, one of the most talented and classiest athletes on the team.
Daily Nebraskan Softball Feature 2008

I was the beat writer for the Nebraska softball team in the spring of 2008, and I covered one of the youngest and most inexperienced teams in the program's history. In this article, I look at the struggles of that team and the outlook of Head Coach Rhonda Revelle and ace pitcher Molly Hill. Following the softball team closely as a reporter proved a huge benefit when I made the jump to HuskerVision the following school year.

This is another article I wrote about the Nebraska football program's recruiting situation after the firing of Head Coach Bill Callahan in 2007. Following recruiting was challenging and fun, as there is a high demand for information about incoming collegiate players, especially at Nebraska. Here, I spoke with two high school head coaches about the situations their star players were in after learning of Coach Callahan's firing.
